The need to ‘disengage economically from China’ is only becoming ‘more urgent’

It’s time for the federal government to start “getting in front” of some critically important issues, one of which is China, says former South Australian Labor minister Tom Kenyon.

“One of my criticisms of the current federal government is that they are often behind an issue – the evacuation from Afghanistan is but the latest example,” Mr. Kenyon told Sky News Australia. “The need to disengage economically from China is only becoming more urgent.

“China has only become an economic powerhouse because the free world has chosen to engage economically with it.

“Should the free world choose to restrict its engagement with China, it will be China that suffers, not the free world.”
