Taliban militants vow to avenge treatment of Bagram prisoners

Taliban militants have vowed to seek revenge for the treatment of prisoners held in the detention center at Bagram airbase in Afghanistan.

It comes as Taliban fighters visited the abandoned US detention center. It held around 5,000 people at its height who were accused of being members of the Taliban, Al-Qaeda, or Islamic State.

Former prisoners at the base say they “won’t forget and won’t forgive” what happened. Within weeks Bagram has been virtually reduced to a scrapyard despite once being the coalition’s central military hub in Afghanistan. Bagram may turn out to be one of the most successful recruiting centers for anti-Western terrorists.
