The New Republic Reporter Alex Shepard says the resurgence in COVID-19 cases in the United States due to the Delta variant disproportionately affects states with low vaccination rates. Mr. Shepard told Sky News the vaccination rate is as low as 30 percent in some states.
“In other parts of the country, it’s like the pandemic is back to its earlier stage because the vaccination rates are so low,” he said.
Mr. Shepard said vaccination was “politicized early”, and right-wing commentators now have an effort to “reverse some of that politicization”.
“There is a very active push … in using Republican figures and other right-leaning talking heads to encourage people to get vaccinated.”
