Lebanon forms new government | Daily Telegraph

Lebanon has formed a new government – breaking a yearlong deadlock which sparked an economic meltdown, with Najib Mikati now taking the top job.

In his first address, Mr. Mikati said the new cabinet will unite with hope and determination and work together.

Lebanon has not had an entire government in 13 months since Prime Minister Hassan Diab resigned after the 2020 Beirut explosion. The economic crisis has forced approximately three-quarters of the Lebanese population into poverty.
