Kim Kardashian may not be an Olympic athlete, but she will be a part of Team USA for the Tokyo Games. Kardashian announced Monday in Instagram and Twitter posts that her clothing brand SKIMS is designing the official undergarments, loungewear, and pajamas for Team USA athletes competing at the Tokyo Olympic Games. The brand, which launched in September 2019, sells bras, underwear, shapewear, and various loungewear items, including sweatpants, leggings, and t-shirts.
Kardashian said in her posts that being around Caitlyn Jenner’s track and field meets growing up gave her a lifelong appreciation for the Olympics and what the Games mean to athletes.
“When I received the call inviting Skims to be a part of Team USA, every moment I’ve spent admiring the strength and energy of the Olympians from the sidelines came full circle,” she wrote.
Five Team USA athletes modeled the official garments in Kardashian’s announcement: the USWNT’s Alex Morgan, 400-meter hurdler Dalilah Muhammad, WNBA star A’ja Wilson, long-distance swimmer Haley Anderson and Paralympic sprinter Scout Bassett.
“I’m so proud to be part of this campaign that celebrates female athletes,” Wilson said in her own Instagram post. “I’m lovin’ the sleepwear collection SKIMS designed especially for Team USA!”
Kardashian said the brand will release the items athletes are wearing in Tokyo as a capsule collection on its website beginning July 12. SKIMS joins Team USA’s longtime partners Nike and Ralph Lauren as official clothing providers for the Tokyo Olympics.
“SKIMS’ shared mission and values of empowerment and inclusivity made the brand the perfect fit for Team USA,” said Peter Zeytoonjian, senior vice president of consumer products at U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Properties, in a statement.
