Derek Chauvin trial is a ‘trial of a certain way of American policing’

The trial of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd in May last year is a “trial of a certain way of American policing,” according to The New Republic’s Alex Shephard.

Mr. Shephard said the trial was “one of the more astonishing things we’ve seen in the American legal system,” and it could have ramifications for the kind of force police officers can use for detainment.

“This is a profoundly emotional trial, I think we really heard a lot about who George Floyd was as a person, and it’s kind of a remind about police tactics that have come under attack,” he told Sky News.
