Conflict ‘must end’ in a ceasefire

Former foreign minister Bob Carr says neither Hamas nor Israel has a path to victory and the only way it will end is with a ceasefire.

The UN Security Council earlier called for an immediate ceasefire; however Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned it would take time before the fighting ends.

“It will end in a mutual agreement to cease striking at the other, and the sooner that happens, the less chance of youngsters being killed in the rubble, which is the shocking visual image which assaults our senses,” Mr. Carr told Sky News.

“This must end in a ceasefire as all previous conflicts between Hamas in Gaza and the IDF has ended.”
