The United Kingdom’s prime minister and the chancellor will self-isolate after contacting the health secretary who has tested positive to COVID.
The announcement comes just hours after a Downing Street spokesperson said they would avoid isolation by joining the pilot testing scheme.
The backflip could not come at a worse time for the government – with almost all restrictions lifted on Freedom Day – tomorrow.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said, “we did look briefly at the idea of us taking part in the pilot scheme which allows people to test daily, but I think it’s far more important that everybody sticks to the same rules”. “That’s why I’m going to be isolating until … Monday the 26th of July.”
