According to The New Republic’s Alex Shephard, the Biden administration has tried to use its “clout” to say they orchestrated the ceasefire in the latest Middle East conflict – a claim which holds some doubt.
“Well, it is still a very fragile ceasefire. I think that the Biden administration is pushing the case that they worked diligently behind the scenes to make this happen,” he said.
“Yet what’s happening here is that the administration has tried to use its clout that it brought an end to this conflict as quickly as possible – I think there is some doubt about that.
Mr. Shephard said the ceasefire was brokered mainly by Egypt. He also said the Biden administration was trying to “move on from this as quickly as possible” and focus its efforts on domestic issues.
